TREP - Interview

February 21, 2019

1.Which bands have had the biggest impact on you to date, musically and visually?

Rhys Evans (Guitar and Vocals) – Has to be Muse and Queens Of The Stone Age for me, Muse are alive with their performances both on the albums and actually live and QOTSA, Josh is one of my favourite lyricists and I love the way the whole band just grooves.

Sam Green (Bass and Vocals) – It has to be Meshuggah or The Winery Dogs, they really are a power trio and Meshuggah just makes me want to break stuff.

Max Hill (Drums) – My world was changed as a drummer when I first heard Portnoy on the “Train Of Thought” album by Dream Theatre. Devin Townsend has a lot to answer for as well!

2.Which are the three albums in your collection that would surprise people the most?

MH – Tracy Chapman “Tracy Chapman”, The Prodigy “Music For The Jilted Generation” and Deep Blue Something “Home”.

SG – Garth Brooks “In Pieces”, Ed Alleyne Johnson “Ultraviolet” and Alice In Chains “Dirt”.

RE – Son Lux “At War With Walls And Mazes”, Franz Ferdinand “Tonight: Franz Ferdinand” and How To Destroy Angels “Welcome Oblivion”.

3.Thinking outside of music; can you pick three films/books/pieces that have inspired you as an artist, and can you explain why?

SG – “Law Abiding Citizen”, be nice to people, you don’t know what they do for a living.

MH – “Dark City”, it is something to think about.

RE – “Equilibrium”, the dystopian theme of this film was a big influence, especially on my lyrical content.

4.Where and when can we next expect to see you guys playing?

RE/MH/SG – On tour in March 2019, you can keep an eye on this through our Facebook page.
