Lyon Estates - Fir Tree - Review
Lyon Estates have long been a prospect for us at Riff Media. Since we first stumbled upon them playing shows in Selby to watching from afar in recent years we have always thought that there was something special about them and with their latest EP release 'Fir Tree' I think it proves we were dead right.
The band have been going strong since forming in 2011 with a string of exceptional releases and even more exceptional live performances they have pushed the boundaries of what under the radar local talent can actually deliver and are an absolute credit to the ever expanding Yorkshire music scene.
Fir Tree will be released on the 16th of June through Kaiju Records with a tour in support of the release happening throughout June.
Fir Tree perfectly demonstrates the bands capabilities to produce incredible pop-punk with their own distinctive sound. It's incredibly difficult for smaller bands to remain fresh and focused on their writing but somehow Lyon Estates consistently deliver and I strongly believe they will continue to do so in the near future.
With 6 tracks (7 if you count the intro) the EP is a perfect little teaser of what is to come in the future and a nice little starter whilst we wait in sever anticipation for an enormous main course of an album, which we hope is somewhere on the horizon.
The band have recently released a music video for 'Venom' taken from the EP which can be viewed below:
The hottest track from the EP in our opinion has to be Heavy Rain, it showcases all the bands talents perfectly. Well written, well performed and very well stuck in my head and on repeat.
You can follow Lyon Estates here: Facebook. And be sure to get out to a show if they are playing close to you on their run out, you will absolutely not regret it.

Huge things are on the horizon for this rapidly maturing and constantly improving band from little old Selby, we can not wait!
